Discover the North of Lanzarote with us

The Northern Tourist Centers offer the possibility of different routes and combinations.

The caves: Jameos del Agua & Cueva de los Verdes

With the eruption of the Volcano of La Corona a magnificent and imposing volcanic tube was formed. It runs approximately 6 km underground and about 1.5 km under the sea bed. Two parts of this tunnel have been adapted for visits: Los Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes.

The badlands of the Corona Volcano surround the caves and  this sea of lava, a protected natural park area, is covered with a large amount of succulent and prickly plants.

Jameos del Agua

This is a wonder of nature, enhanced by man. Jameos del Agua is considered the best work of Cesar Manrique on the Lanzarote landscape, here we find interaction between art and nature in perfect harmony. In the lake, inside the tube, live the "jameitos", small white blind crabs. César Manrique wanted to make this place the most spectacular nightclub in the world. At the present time the restaurant offers snacks during the day and dinner, folk music and a DJ some evenings. Its interior is a true oasis. Concerts and shows take place in a part of the cave transformed into an auditorium and visitors can enjoy discovering more about volcanoes in the “House of the Volcanoes”.

Cueva de los Verdes

Jesus Soto magnified the uniqueness of this cave introducing lighting which integrates perfectly leaving it almost in its natural state. Visiting this cave we enter in the interior of the earth. You will be told numerous stories of the inhabitants of the island and a secret that will surprise everyone. Sometimes concerts and festivals are held in the magnificent cave´s concert hall.

Mirador del Río

At the Mirador del Rio view point, one has the desire to burst into flight. From here the landscape extends beyond our view towards the Atlantic Ocean but our eyes are drawn to the spectacular islands of La Graciosa, Montaña Clara and Alegranza.

The building that houses the Mirador del Río is the best example of organic architecture by the artist César Manrique regarding landscape integration. It is located on the stunning cliff of Famara at an altitude of 480 m. In addition, Famara cliff is an area of great botanical interest where a large number of endemic species are found.

Chinijo Archipelago

It consists of three islands, La Graciosa, Montaña Clara and Alegranza and two small rocks, East and West Rock. It is a welcome haven of tranquility for nature lovers.

La Graciosa is inhabited and has only 800 residents concentrated in the seaside town called Caleta del Sebo. From Órzola, there are ferry connections, boat trips and taxi boats. It is curious to see how a town without paved roads has all the amenities one could need to enjoy the island. Its landscapes, beautiful beaches and rich fauna and flora all stand out.

In the summer there are boat trips to the island of Alegranza, which is the chosen destination for many migratory birds to nest.

Valley of a thousand Palm Trees

In this fertile valley you can find the largest amount of palm trees on the island and in whose midst is one of the most picturesque villages on the island, Haría.

César Manrique House

The artist lived in Haría the last 3 years of his life. He chose this area seeking inspiration from the surroundings and tranquility to paint. Visiting this house you will get to know what Cesar Manrique was like in his private life. The house is a perfect example of traditional architecture. This versatile creator always fought to preserve this architectural model on the island.

Aloe Vera

On the island you can discover the properties of this plant used since antiquity. Its properties are almost miraculous.
